We had our stake Relief Society Enrichment meeting last week. It was really neat. They offered a bunch of really interesting classes, two of which I was able to attend. The first was about cooking with food storage. Did you know you can make cheese and sour cream out of powdered milk? (By the way, I didn't get the recipes for this one, so if you have ANY to share, please send them to me!) The second class had some great parenting tips, one of which was rewarding your children for good behavior during the passing of the sacrament with goodies. This actually worked really well on Sunday; I hope I don't get lax about it this Sunday.
Anyway, one sister gave some suggestions about how to create some excitement in our everyday lives with our families. She gave some excellent ideas, but unfortunately, I can only remember two of them: have just a normal dinner but with candlelights, and have a Cat in the Hat bath complete with cake. We've created one ourselves. The last few times we've ordered pizza, we have a picnic on the living room floor while watching a video. The girls love this! So now I want to know what ideas YOU have for creating simple fun activities at home. I want to hear!

Oh, I'm so glad you were able to go! I didn't think you were going to be able to make it; sounds like it was a lot of fun!
We don't do any toys or treats until after the sacrament (at least for Kinley). If she is naughty before the sacrament is over, she has to wait that much longer. The minutes keep racking up if she keeps fussing, so she doesn't fuss much!
We are big fans of the finger-food picnic. Everything for dinner must be eaten with your hands or a toothpick. Way fun!
I LOVED the cat in the hat bath with cake idea! We're totally going to do that. I went to the emergency food class, too, but I didn't get those recipes either. The other class I went to was Tai Chi (I was so curious) but now I'm wishing I had gone to the parenting class you did... sounds like it was great.
I do a lot of cooking with Alex and Rory. I put a folding table up to the kitchen island and they sit on that, while helping me crack eggs, stir, etc. They both LOVE it (Rory doesn't crack eggs yet, but she likes participating in making messes).
